Wish You Were Here

by Bradford J. Howard

I should have told you
before you went away
Now that you're gone,
I can only wish you were here

When I was alone,
I'd think of you,
and all my troubles would be gone
Thought it was a crush,
but it was more,
and now you'll never know the truth

I must have been a fool
to let you leave me
Hoped I could bring you back
but moreso, I wish you were here

Nothing's been the same
All I know is your name
and I need to know more
Wish I was dreaming,
know I have no one else,
since you left before I could confess

You were warmth on cold nights,
Never forget the glimmer in your eyes
I fell in love with you,
and now I wish you were here

To my darkness, you were light
You gave me strength, helped me fight
Want a final chance with you
Wish you were here, pray it comes true
