The Stroll

by Birdie Houston

Strolling arm and arm
Beneath majestic midnight skies
Life in days of old
Let them perish not
Long stemmed roses
Presented to thee
Which thou held proudly
Behind thou back
Courting
Chivalry lives
Triggering sincerity's
Seasons revive
Pleasantly lifting embedded spirits
Sure as ocean tides
Words chime time after time
Through thy reassuring voice
A modern day Shakespeare
Over takes thy soul
As you recite
Kindled poems of the heart
Hearken
Now you become Romeo and I
You're dreamy Juliet
Wooing as we stroll graciously
Hand in hand
Joyously
As silhouette King and Queen
Smiling towards
One highly bleached moon
Beneath majestic stars
Like in days of old
Let them perish not
Courting honorably
Chivalry lives
'Tis unburied
My love o'love

I see it in thine eyes
