Clarence Barbee has been writing poetry since the eighth grade where he placed first
in a essay and poetry contest put on by the NAACP. From there he began to perform his work through
spoken word at several local poetry/spoken word venues. In 2001 he began an endevor with three other
poets and became a part of A Group Called Karma, where he recorded two cd's of spoken word with them.
In 2003 he collaborated with a good friend who played upright bass and recorded "Open Field," a self titled ep.
Clarence has performed, competed in several slam competitions, and completed recordings.
In June 2015, he released his first ebook entitled Chicken Soup and A Shot of Jack. You can access the book via the
