Broke

by Corey T. Atherley

Watching others pass by like a breeze
As if you fell off and they came through,
Feeling hopeless
My pockets are empty
I feel so depressed,
I don't have one penny
How did I turn out this way?
College went down the drain.
Overdue rent, credit card bills and
financial pain
I used to be the same peson who walked by in fancy suits
Pushing away beggars on the loose
In my own teenage naiveness
I was the baby of my family spoiled by greedness
Now I'm nineteen
Selling all my DVDs
Sometimes I think that what I've done to others
Has come back to haunt me times three.
Now I knew I should've listened to my parents and my teachers
Everyone who instilled in me life ain't sweet.
Now look at me.
Struggling to make ends meet.
Being on your own is f*cked up, man.
Little kids...listen to your parents and your teachers on the humble,
Cause life...will get you in TROUBLE.
