Eight Year Curse

by Corey T. Atherley

In four more years
She will sit in her rocking chair
Centuries of anger and gray hair
And remind everyone what happened on November 3rd
Two-thousand-and-four,
And tell them she once relived the same nightmare
Four years prior.
She will explain to them: such a golden opportunity,
Once again thrown down the tubes of wishful thinking.
In four more years
When America has reached the end of her rope
When she gives her dwellers the abilility
To redeem back that golden opportunity
It will end an eight year curse.
America will show her gratitude,
In many, many ways.
