I Am The Ancestors Daughter Don't Cry For Me

by Jacqueline Amos

I am the ancestors daughter
I am the blackberry wine
Sweet as the nector on the vine
I felt the pain through my mothers womb
I felt her mothers pain and her fathers pain
I felt the pain of civilization
I walk tall in the name of the Nubian Queen
I walk with the torch of freedom
I am the desendants of Kings an Queens
"Don't Cry For Me"
Take my hands as I guide you
To purify your soul
And baptise your love
Lord are we worthy of your call
I am the ancestors daughter
I will be the eyes that you may see
The breath that you may breathe
The love which you embrace
The temple where you create
"Don't Cry For Me"
The same pain runs through my vain
As my ancestor before me
I walk tall with dignity
And sing the songs of my ancestors
I am the desendent of Kings an Queens
