Single Woman

by Alena Harris

I am an enemy.
I am poison.
I am a killer.
I am your worst nightmare.
I am a single woman.
I am the last person you want to leave alone with your husband.
I am innocent.
I am your friend.
I am weak but oh so powerful.
I can sit among a group of married couples
and before you know it your husband is looking at me.
I did nothing.
I talked and I smiled in his direction.
And now I’m the cause of his erection.
I am a single woman.
I don’t want him.
I didn’t pursue him.
He came to me.
I just never sent him away.
What do you want me to do?
I am a single woman,
In a world full of married men.
Married men that I don’t want giving me seductive looks,
sexy smiles, compliments or interesting conversation.
Just to be on the safe side, keep your husband away from me.
Because I am a single woman.
