Little Girl

by Akua

Little girl, Little girl
dropped into this cold harsh world
how unfair that it is to thee
that someone snatched your virginity

How thoughtless and how cruel of him
to force upon you this unforgiving sin
they all ask when they see you pass
"I wonder why that girl is so fast"
When if they knew the pain you've known
they'd wonder then how you had grown
and marvel at your strength and might
they'd all admire your relentless fight

I sit and think and tears drop down
my smile is turned into a frown
when I allow my self to feel your plight
I wish that I could bring you light
so you could finally see the end
to the infinite cycle you are caught in
unfortunately for all concerned
those who gave you life have never learned
how to teach you better than they knew
how to bring the goodness out of you

my prayer for you is that one day
that you will finally learn the way
to nurture the babies you brought here
please do not let them embrace fear
I pray you teach them how to love
and rely upon the power above
I hope that you will teach them too
how to avoid the things that you've gone through
I pray that you will find your worth
before there is another birth

Little girl, Little girl
Please rise above this cold harsh world
and show yourself who you can be
a child of God whose heart is free
