My Strength

by Akanke

I woke up one morning full of despair
It had been days since I ate or combed my hair
I cried out to the Lord that I didn’t want to live
But this was one request for me he wouldn’t give
I saw a faint yellow light and an outline of a hand
He reached out to me and commanded that I stand.
I slowly took His hand and rose to my feet
The comfort of His hand told me I’d soon be complete.
He led me to the bathroom and told me to lock the door
Once that was done, He said “Kneel on the floor”.
When my knees hit the floor, I began to cry, rock, and pray
I begged the Lord for strength to make it through the day.
The Lord touched my shoulder to let me know He was near,
And to keep on praying, and to have no fear.
As I continued to talk, my burdens began to disappear
It was all from my heart, every word, every tear.
The Lord told me he’d be with me every step of the way
That all I needed was to call his name, and all would be okay.
