In An African Village

by Rev Peter E Adotey Addo

I seemed to be at a loss in time
When the sun crawled up and up
Over the green rain forest
And Oh, it was just for a moment
An unforgettable moment in time,
Frozen as it were I heard my heart
It beat and I heard what was a whisper
From as million, million years ago
And suddenly I was lost in time
As the trees pointed upward like towers
And I felt, I actually felt what it must have been
When our world was fresh and new
