Unfulfilled Dream

by A.B. Wilson Jr.

He spoke with eloquence and pride.

He lifted the spirits of an oppressed and battered people.

He tolds us of a dream.

A dream that he believed would become a reality.

A reality that has yet to arrive.

There is still poverty and oppression.

There are still criminals and haters.

There is still laziness and stupidity.

40 years have come and gone.

Some things have changed.

Still a dream unfulfilled.

There are labels and judgements based on color.

An unbalanced system of justice.

Violent hearts live in the cruel past.

Leaders spewing words filled with hypocrisy.

We are still divided.

Divided by race.

Divided by social status.

Divided by money.

Divided by color.

The dream is unfufilled.

A dream of unity and brotherhood is still a slow process.

There are still many symbols of the disgusting past.

There must be a fight to make his dream a reality.
