Down and Out

by A.B. Wilson Jr.

We hang our heads in total sorrow.

Knowing full there will be no tomorrow.

We were so strong.

It is hard to comprehend what went wrong.

I know our effort was great.

Our opponents seem to play at a higer rate.

The outcome is very difficult to swallow.

I have to keep the faith that some good things will follow.

It appeared we had the damn thing won.

We see over there the others are having all the fun.

We know foolish critics will have their say.

We will close our ears and pray.

Only one will totally achieve.

The other group will simply have to leave.

We competed without fear.

We all knew we deserved to be here.

There is no reason to look back.

We had many chances to attack.

I want to yell a loud angry shout.

It is extremely tough to be down and out.
