Dividing Lines

by A.B. Wilson Jr.

Separated by all our differences.

Looking at what is on the surface view.

Keeping distance because we think we are not the same.

Holding both arms out the other way.

Place a horrible label.

Intensely ignorant words of disrespect.

Lines are drawn to express we should be apart.

Divided by things that are beyond human control.

Divided by the simplicity of being oneself.

Expressions of fear for the differences we see.

The violation is placed on any inclusion.

Words of harsh stupidity for all the differences.

Labels of pigment and spirit draws a distinct division.

All some see is how others are different and divides from that difference.

I thought this was a united place.

Why are there so many dividing lines?
