A Days Work

by A.B. Wilson Jr.

You go through the day to try to make today better than yesterday.

You work like hell to make ends meet to support.

You try to maintain your sanity.

Obstacles standing in your way like violent crimes,
corrupt politicians, and racist bigots.

You try to smile to keep everything in perspective,
but you're crying inside and burning with anger.

Your mind is confused, but you try to maintain yourself
in this difficult rat race.

You stand tall and maintain your pride and then proceed
to go out and try to make it through another day.
