Hate?

by 144Play

Today I sit pondering our precious future for all of mankind
Read, watch or listen to the news
Hate has grabbed the national spotlight, a spotlight filled with crime
Confronted about your nationality, religion, or the colors that you chose
When will the human race realize the mistakes we have made?
Take the time to read about our past
Torching and lynching of our fellow man, displayed
Hate crime is not a new fad practiced by human trash
Hate?
Who crossed the seas to still away someone else's land?
While promising them peace and only giving them strife
They crossed once again to steal the innocent away from their land
Shackling and destroying innocent lives with no regard to life
Called awful names and kept in chains
Why have you brought me here to this hateful place?
Stripped naked and paraded around in shame
Assault and battery at a time before it was considered a disgrace
Your and my ancestors all felt its wrath
Paraded around and made to seem ignorant
Ancestors from the past created their own path
Some seemed docile while others resisted with resilience
This one question I ask!
Hate?
This from a race of people who called themselves civilized
Each day we create a different bridge to our past
At what level of hate will we reach before we realize?
It is destroying us fast
This monster called hate
Passed down through genes or learned just the same
This mockery of fate
Now you tell me who is the blame
